who was among one of 228 passengers and crew members reported missing and presumed dead aboard on the ill-fated Paris-bound Air France Flight 447 after the jetliner mysteriously disappeared on May 31, 2009 and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean during a violent tropical thunderstorm and severe turbulence off the northeastern Brazilian coast of Fernando de Noronha, in which the Brazilian Navy personnel recovered the first major wreckage and two bodies from the sea within five days of the accident, but the initial investigation conducted by France's Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) was hampered because the aircraft's flight recorders were not yet recovered from the ocean floor at the time.
